Ever wondered how to become hated and ignored in SL but don’t have the guts to be a blatant ass? Fear not. There are other ways to become despised without being foul mouthed or acting like a troll. Here are ten steps you can follow to make your existence on SL a really lonely one.
1. Have no tact
Make unnecessary critical remarks about a person’s avatar, purchases, activities, friends or builds. When confronted, brush the person off by saying they’ll have to deal with your opinions and that they’re overly sensitive. Disregard the fact that you’re too obtuse to realize the difference between being rude and honest. Even better, claim to have aspergers or being bipolar to excuse your lack of social skills.
2. Throw a fit when someone has hidden their online status from you
Instead of seeing people hiding their online status from you as their need for alone time or them not being in the mood to say, “I’m busy” to everyone, take it personally. Make the online status all about you. Track down their location and confront them, questioning their sincerity when all they wanted was peace without having to resort to an alt. Being psychotic like this is one of the fastest ways to find yourself pondering why your friend list is empty and why every one hates you.
3. TP to someone’s private home or platform uninvited
Unless it’s been clear you’re welcomed to come over any time, pop in randomly and without asking. Waltz on in and suddenly try to steal the spotlight. You get major points on being an ass if you interrupted sex, meetings, people consoling another or other private moments.
4. Continue shouting for attention when people are clearly in Busy Mode
How dare someone be in busy mode instead of paying attention to you. Whine and cry until they do respond. Get all huffy if they don’t respond to you in 2 seconds. When you are ignored and rightfully so, start talking about slitting your wrists or express other thoughts of suicide and self-loathing.
5. Assume everything
Rather than get to know someone or back off when a person respectfully wants their personal info guarded, fill in the blanks yourself. Insult people’s intelligence by coming to unflattering conclusions about them such as assuming they have a crush on you or that they have an ulterior motive for hanging out with you. Assign people roles into your SL without even asking them first.
6. Ask for favors that transcend into RL
Even though you haven’t shown your friend any RL images of yourself or much of your own RL info, have the gall to ask them favors that pass into RL. Ask violating favors of them that involve the need of their address or asking them to make you something IRL. On top of that, ask people many more favors that you yourself don’t deserve.
7. Become draining
Barrage someone with a problem. Every. Fucking. Day. Be it made up crap due to insecurities or a legit problem blown out of proportion, crying to someone about a “problem” every day can tear at a person’s patience. Blaming the person for everything is also a guaranteed way to cause someone to become homicidal.
8. Beg for lindens
No explanation needed here.
9. Have an obnoxious profile
I’M A BITCH AND YOU WILL HATE ME IN 5 MINUTES. IF I SHOOT YOU ITS UR OWN DAMN FAULT FOR BEING IN THE WAY. MESS WITH MY FAMILY YOU MESS WITH ME. FUCK YOU BITCH DICK CUNT. ME AM TOUGH AND WILL KICK YOU ASS. NO DRAMA. BY IMING ME, YOU GIVE ME ALL RIGHTS TO BREAK THE RULE ON DISCLOSURE, YOU BEEN WARNED.
You can have people avoid you like the plague just for having a profile that makes your IQ that of a shrimp’s.
10. Have full entitlement for being on someone’s friend list
Put a lot of weight on your own importance in another’s SL just for being on their friend list. Even though you know nothing about the person who just accepted your friendship offer, expect to have rights to being let into their homes, having free stuff if they are a merchant, full map rights, building perms and so on. Expect their SL to revolve around you while you’re at it. Raise a stink if you aren’t given any of the above.
In short, you don’t have to be the typical violent and aggressive stereotype to become disliked in SL. (Or anywhere) One of the overlooked problem personalities are the needy and shockingly self-absorbed types who are blind to their toxic vibes because they consider themselves the victims. As such, these types can be much more harmful since they aren’t as obvious as the typical person most would avoid. If you happen to exhibit any of the above behavior but sincerely yearn the presence of others, it is time to get a clue and become LIKABLE instead of remaining annoying and blaming everyone else for your shortcomings.
